1.When Gutterson says "Green Valley is as much a verb as a noun" he means Green Vally is just as much alive as it is a place. It refers that the community is growing, and has is doing actions of its own. The laws prohibit and require people do to certain things like " On a spring evening after eight o'clock it is possible to drive through miles of them without seeing a single human being" (p. 184).

2. Gutterson's tone is very relaxed, but negative. As he says on page 184 "That Sunday afternoon I made my way along peaceful boulevards to Green Valley's civic center, persumably a place where people congregate".

3. I agree with Gutterson that suburbs are not safe. Problems will follow someone where ever they go, and if you gather two or more people in a room there will be differences. I can remember seeing kid move school to excape their problems just to fin new ones.

Analysis

From top to bottom the seal of university tells you exactly who we are, The University of Tennessee. As the seal says the school was founded in 1794, so you know the school has been around for a long time. I being UT student, the seal represents everything we stand for. The globe at the top tells everyone that not just the campus is diverse, but after someone leaves the school they can pursue opportunities around the world. The book right under the globe is a symbol of the knowledge we retain, and the philosophy we take out into the world. The seal also states that the school is agricultural, caring for the environment such as UT going green. Lastly the spot that says commerce signifies the future for a UT student to leave, and trade the understanding from their degree for the economic good needed for life.

Dear Austin,
Ohhhh man let me tell you about this long weekend! I came home for alittle while and finally got to recover from the wild time up here. Of course you know that cause you had lunch with me on saturday. But let me tell you for dinner I had the best steak of my life. It was nice to be away from the crappy school food up here, and getting my laundry done was marvelous! I hope moving out of your house is working for you and your sister.

On sunday man, aka Boomsday, was tight as hell! Knoxville had the biggest fire work show that I have ever seen, and after all the festivites we all went out partying. Everyone was perpared for game on Monday!

Dear Mom,
It was great to see you for the little time I did this weekend. It always amazes me how hard you work! Ohhhh and the dinner saturday night was the best it was great not to have to eat the school food for a night. Boomsday was awesome! The fireworks that Knoxville put on the bridge was so cool! They had stuff shooting onto the water and then exploding. Every thing was a big party that night, and all for tomorrow to prepare for the big game.

On monday I went to Brents house to watch the football game, he is the leader for our CRU bible study. All the guys from back home were there, and we had a great time watching the game. We were all heart broken when Tennessee lost, and had a funny quiet drive home. Its almost half way through the week though and I ready to relaxe this weekend!

Both videos had the same purpose, but one was a little more effective. The first one appeals to a very large general audience. With its deep fatherly voice it seems to strike right to the point, and becomes serous from the get go. What was weird was how the first video started out with saying a sizzling pan was drugs then put the egg in when the second video started out with the egg. I believe that it was because drugs hadn’t been around as long so they were inferring drugs are bad even if you’re not on them. The second video how ever has a younger more of young adult audience with the presence of a young good looking star. It also has a serious tone, but implies to it in more of an indirect way. As you can see in the second video there is a presence of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which could mean that drugs are being fought against harder because the have had more experience with them. Really the second video isn’t just about your brain they make a great emotional appeal by relating it to your life making it totally more effective.

the big light show in the back tells that the oylmpics are closing up
the soldier's uniform is perfect meaning china wanted to put there best look forward
people are going in to view the ceremony
the festavel is a very big production capable of turning the whole place red with lights

All through the oylmpics China has shown the world a brand new them, but they told the world that some of there beliefs will stay the same. Like in the picture the soldier standing in the front with no emotion. Could be seen as China saying yes we are a super power and arnt afraid of getting in to a mess. Also though there are people walking in to the background maybe infering that China is going to open up their doors to the world now, and let people in. In all though China put on a enormous light show! Just showing every one how many people they can bring together and do something to stun us all.

• The pencil is so old that its orgin is unkown.
• Not only is the pencil old but it is still working, so it must be a good pencil
• The pencil is used often for the purpose it is there to serve
• The easer is forgiving like my self, and isnt held to lots of responsibility because of it
